At Low Tide Gaming and Beachfront Blessings, we believe that communication is a right, not a privilege. That’s why we’ve launched an initiative to install communication boards throughout Surfside Beach and Myrtle Beach—to make our beautiful coastal community more inclusive and accessible to everyone, especially nonverbal individuals or those with speech and language challenges.
Communication boards are visual tools that display symbols, words, or pictures to help people express themselves. Often used by individuals with autism, speech delays, or other communication disorders, these boards provide a simple, effective way to convey needs, emotions, and thoughts—especially in public spaces where access to communication is limited.
We want to see communication boards:
By placing communication boards in key public spaces, we can:
Imagine being in a new place and not being able to ask for help, say you’re hurt, or tell someone your name. For many individuals, this is a daily reality. Communication boards help bridge that gap. They promote dignity, independence, and connection, and they make our community a place where everyone has a voice.
We’re working with local leaders, schools, and organizations to bring this project to life. If you’re interested in partnering, sponsoring a board, or helping spread the word, we’d love to hear from you.
Together, let’s make Surfside and Myrtle Beach a model of accessibility, inclusion, and compassion—one board at a time.
